Keith Sparks Elected to KJA board

November 9, 2009 - Keith Sparks Elected to KJA board in recognition of his continued efforts to protect the constitutional rights of citizens in the Commonwealth

Bardstown attorney Keith Sparks, a founding partner of the Bardstown law firm McCoy & Sparks, has been elected to the Board of Governors by the Kentucky Justice Association (KJA). The KJA is a statewide organization of attorneys dedicated to protecting citizens’ right to have their cases decided by juries, rather than corporate or special interest groups.  It is one of the state’s largest and most influential legal organizations. Election to the Board is done by a statewide election involving all KJA members.

Sparks, who has been an active KJA member for more than ten years, said, ”I am honored to be elected to the board. The KJA is a great and important organization made up of lawyers across Kentucky. Its purpose is to strengthen the court system by making sure that people have justice decided by juries.  Special interest groups are constantly trying to take that away.  KJA protects against this and fights for people to keep the rights granted in the constitution.  That is a pretty noble cause, if you ask me, and I am proud to do my part.”

The Kentucky Justice Association was founded in 1954 and over the years has grown into an important, statewide voice for consumers. The KJA’s more than 1,400 members are committed to improving the quality of legal representation for Kentucky families by providing superior legal education and by keeping abreast of legislative and judicial proceedings. They help to educate citizens about their legal rights through its Speakers Bureau and other informative programs, publications and community service projects.

Sparks said, “The Board manages the organization by setting its agenda and course.  I hope to get involved with the legislative agenda, and continue KJA’s work in assuring that people who are injured do not have their rights limited or blocked.  Access to the courts is the single most important means that citizens have to empower themselves against corporate and government abuses—and I want to help keep those doors open.”
